Thrust SSC Being Lifted In To The Air At The Coventry Transport Museum 

The famous Thrust SSC and Thrust2 jet engined cars are now in their new place of residence in the Coventry Transport Museum - having undergone a daring manoeuvre that was project managed by MFH Construction Projects Ltd.

The Leicester based company was proud to have been part of the engineering team that were responsible for the transportation and relocation of these historic speed breaking jet cars.

The engineering task saw Thrust 2 and Thrust SSC being careful lifted off the ground by a heavy capacity crane, being manoeuvred whilst suspended in the air over the Transport Museums gates, then being carefully lowered down to ground level onto a waiting low loader vehicle. Both cars were then transported by road at a walking pace around to their new entry point into this much visited UK transport museum.

Once again they were both hoisted into the air by crane and delicately moved into their new location for final positioning by the museum staff.

Thrust SSC

The Thrust SSC (fighter) jet-engined car holds the World Land speed record which was set on the 15th of October 1997. Thrust SSC achieved a record breaking speed of 763mph and became the first car to officially break the sound barrier. 

Thrust2

Thrust2 is the predecessor car to Thrust SSC. This British designed and built car held the land speed record from  the 4th of October 1983 through to the 25th of September 1997. It broke the land speed record with a recorded speed of 633.468 mph.
